Looking after your skin in summer

As the weather heats up, looking after our skin becomes more important. In Australia, our sun exposure is particularly damaging to the skin due to the high UV radiation. Skin that is overexposed to and damaged by the sun dries and ages faster than skin that has been protected from the sun and looked after through a proper skin care routine.

To help keep your skin nourished and hydrated this summer, follow our four helpful tips:

1. Seek shade and cover up where possible

The best method of protecting your skin from sun damage is avoiding direct contact with the sun as much as possible. Seek shade if you can, or wear protective clothing like hats, sunglasses and long-sleeved shirts.

2. Get into the habit of wearing sunscreen

After avoiding direct contact with the sun and covering up, wearing sunscreen is your best defence against sun damage. So, get into a habit of wearing sunscreen. For best results, apply 30 minutes before heading out into the sun and reapply as needed.

We make a natural sunscreen that is SPF 30+. Our oil-based natural sunscreen is four-hour water-resistant and doesn’t contain the toxins that many other sunscreens do.

3. Hydrate

When in the sun, hydration is essential. Not only for our health but the health of our skin too. Being hydrated helps your skin maintain moisture.

4. Be kind to your skin

Being out in the sun all day takes its toll on your skin. From the sun’s rays to the seawater when at the beach, many elements contribute to dry, unhealthy, tight skin. By developing a proper skin care routine that has hydrating, natural ingredients, you can help restore and even improve your skin.
